On 30 October, Chairman of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration Mr. Igor Gundych and H.E. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine Eduard Hoeks talked about cooperation between Zhytomyr region of Ukraine and the Netherlands.
“There are quite many enterprises in Zhytomyr region with the capital from the Netherlands, but we would like to attain the same results in the socio-cultural sphere as well. You have a lot to learn from. We are moving towards the European Union, and the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, not only declares it; we are making great progress in this direction. We hope that such meetings will enable us to approach the European family more quickly”, Mr. Gundych said.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine, Eduard Hoeks noted that the Netherlands supports Ukraine in implementing reforms to join the EU.
“We in the Netherlands know about the ambitions of Ukraine for joining the European Union. We know that to that end some reforms have to be carried out. The Netherlands supports the implementation of reforms, including the reform of the rule of law and decentralization”, Mr. Hoeks said.
The Ambassador also added that cooperation between Zhytomyr and the Netherlands could affect not only the socio-economic, but also cultural and creative sphere.
“Yesterday, I visited the festival “October in October” and I liked absolutely all the ideas, especially the idea of transforming Zhytomyr into something new – in this respect, I was impressed by architects and city planners. In addition, I have an idea to hold a Dutch film festival in Zhytomyr”, Mr. Hoeks added.
The program of the visit of the Ambassador in Zhytomyr region also provides for a visit to a youth hub in Nova Borova united territorial community and the police station.
