Ihor Hundych and Ambassador of Pakistan Discussed Socio-Economic and Tourism Cooperation Between Countries

On 17 April, the Chairman of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration Mr. Ihor Hundych and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine H.E. Mr. Zahid Mubashir Sheikh discussed socio-economic and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

“Our region has business relations with 111 countries, and representatives of 50 countries invest in our region. We do not have business relations with Pakistan yet. But we are interested in cultural cooperation, which will give us an opportunity to learn more about our peoples, and later such cooperation will enable us to engage in economic relations. We have a powerful agrarian sector, stone processing and mining industry. In addition, now in Zhytomyr region, the IT sector is well represented, and we have a higher educational institution that can train the relevant specialists”, Mr. Hundych said.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine Mr. Zahid Mubashir Sheikh talked about the development of agrarian and tourism potential among the countries, as well as getting technical education in Ukraine.

“I have been in Ukraine for more than 3 months and people here are sincere, friendly and hospitable. The purpose of my visit is to improve contacts with people. Pakistan, like Ukraine, is powerful in the agricultural sector and cooperation is possible. In addition, many of our wealthy people go to Europe to get technical education. In Ukraine, technical education is of high quality and exchange of students would be a good thing”, Mr. Ambassador said.

Regarding tourism potential, the Chairman emphasized that Zhytomyr region is ready for cooperation.

“I am ready to lead an investor by the hand. Attraction of investments makes it possible to develop infrastructure, cultural and social institutions. In Zhytomyr, we have already created the Tourist Information Centre. Step by step, we will do everything to make the region attractive for tourists”, Mr. Hundych noted.
