This was announced today, on 15 February, by the Chairman of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration Igor Gundych during the signing of a memorandum with the French company Global Ecopower SA on the construction of a solar power plant on the territory of Zhytomyr region.
“I feel that soon Zhytomyr region will become the center of solar energy. It is very pleasant that the company has chosen our region among others. The level of confidence of investors in our region is rather high – we provide them with the largest possible assistance. I have repeatedly said that we are ready to accompany investors “by hand”. I am sure that your activities in Zhytomyr region will be successful in order to implement the project”, – Igor Gundych said.
The French company plans to start construction of a 20MW solar power plant on the territory of Khoroshiv integrated territorial community. The investor Philippe Perret emphasizes that Zhytomyr region is a very sunny area and ideally suits for such projects. Moreover, there is support from the authorities, including for the construction of solar power plants for the population.
“We are the first region in Ukraine, which reimburses up to 20% of the loan to residents of the region for the installation of solar power stations. Therefore, we are interested in developing the sphere of solar energy and eventually becoming a center”, – Igor Gundych noted.
It is the third industrial solar power project that has been launched in the region for the last 2 months. The total expected investment is over USD 60 million. It is planned to build stations with a total capacity of 65 MW.
Recently, Igor Gundych has signed a memorandum with a Belgian company, which plans to build a powerful solar power plant in Zhytomyr region.
