Convinced of Deepening Investment Cooperation, – Vitalii Bunechko Met the Ambassador of Slovenia

On 24 October, the Chairman of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration Mr. Vitalii Bunechko met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine H.E. Mr. Tomaz Menzin and discussed the spheres of cooperation.

In Zhytomyr region, Slovenian investment projects are already being implemented – construction of waste treatment facilities and a solar power plant.

“We are grateful for the support that the European community is providing today, and in particular the Republic of Slovenia, for the well-being of the Ukrainian people and Zhytomyr region. We are ready to consider new initiatives of Slovenian partners and to give the largest possible support to their implementation. I invite investors from Slovenia to Zhytomyr region. I am sure that our meeting will be the starting point for constructive and business Ukrainian-Slovenian cooperation in the investment sphere”, – Mr. Bunechko said.

Zhytomyr region already has investment projects with Slovenian companies. In fact, engineering company Esotech d.d. won the tender for the design of the reconstruction of sewage treatment plants in Zhytomyr, which will provide ecologically high-quality sewage treatment and utilization, significant energy savings and full automation of the sewage treatment process.

Last July, Slovenian company RIKO d.o.o won a tender for the supply of equipment for the construction of a 10.79 / 9.35 MW (DC/AC) terrestrial solar power plant on the territory of Hlybochytsia village council of Zhytomyr region. The total cost of this project is estimated at EUR 9.65 million, with financial assistance from the Republic of Slovenia at EUR 3 million.

“We have exemplary cooperation between Zhytomyr and the region. I am convinced that we have a much larger potential and opportunities for cooperation that we can develop. We are already implementing particular initiatives in Zhytomyr region – two projects for the construction of waste treatment facilities and a solar power plant”, Mr. Menzin noted.

On 29 October, the Ambassador, as well as the Chairman of the regional state administration will participate in the First Investment Forum in Mariupol.

H.E. Ms. Maiia Martynenko, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Zhytomyr and the First Deputy Chairman of Zhytomyr Regional Council Mr. Serhii Kramarenko also attended the meeting.

For reference. The foreign trade turnover of the region with the Republic of Slovenia for 8 months of the current year amounted to USD 801 thous. Exports increased by almost 4% compared to the corresponding period of 2018 and amounted to USD 603.3 thous. The volume of imports amounted to USD 197.8 thous., increasing in 33% from last year.
