Yaroslav Lahuta Met the Ambassador of Australia to Ukraine

On 26 July, the Interim Head of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration Mr. Yaroslav Laguta met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Ukraine H.E. Ms. Melissa O’Rourke; the Ambassador visited Zhytomyr region on the occasion of the opening of the photo exhibition “Southern Lands: Australia / Antarctica”.

“We are very delighted to welcome you in Zhytomyr region. Our region is open to cultural and economic cooperation. Actually, the region does not have such close ties with Australia as with other countries – we do not have enterprises with Australian investment; small export volumes, mainly ferrous metals. That is why we are glad to familiarize you with the capacity of the region more closely” Mr. Laguta noted.

The participants of the meeting discussed the economic situation in Zhytomyr region, Mr. Laguta spoke about the economic and cultural potential of the region.

Melissa O’Rourke assured of Ukraine’s support at the international level.

“Australia has always supported Ukraine in difficult times, and now, during the fighting in eastern Ukraine, we are allies of Ukraine and will continue offering a helping hand and a shoulder to lean on in the international arena”, the Australian Ambassador said.

On July 26, at 14.00 with the support of the Embassy of Australia in Ukraine, Zhytomyr Regional Museum hosted the exhibition of photo works “Southern Lands: Australia / Antarctica”. The author is the Australian diplomat and photographer Tim Bolotnick.
